Parmal, having a yellow-green skin, is short, slightly pointed at one end, and blunt at the other. The flesh of the vegetable is white, and is slightly creamy. It has a bland flavour, and contains small yet firm seeds. It absorbs the different flavours and spices during cooking of the vegetable, making it a versatile dish. It can be used in curries and stir-fries.
